Activities

By evaluating your specific waste issue, Eurowaste looks for a suitable, useful application for your waste. When a consensus is reached regarding the treatment method, we start up the necessary procedures towards the authorities assuring the waste streams are transported in conformity with EU waste shipment regulations. Eurowaste also takes on responsibility for all logistics procedures regarding waste transport from the client to the treatment center.

We take total care of your waste issue and ensure you an impeccable service.

The illustration gives you an idea of how we handle each waste stream.

Transboundary and shipment Transport of hazardous substances

Besides treating the waste streams, Eurowaste also takes care of the entire logistics aspect. ADR and legislation regarding Transboundary Shipment are taken into account when organizing transport.

Transboundary shipment
Waste transported across boundaries needs to comply with the requirements of Council Regulation (EC) 1013/2006 on shipments of waste. This Regulation applies in all member states of the European Union.

The EU Waste Shipment Regulation transposes into EU legislation at the 1989 Basel Convention on the control of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and their disposal and the 2001 OECD Council Decision on the control of transfrontier movements of wastes destined for recovery operations. With this Regulation, EU member states aim to limit the transboundary movement of waste and want to supervise and control waste transports in order to minimize the danger to the environment and to public health. The Regulation stipulates which waste transports are allowed and which are prohibited and determines which procedures have to be abided by when transporting waste.

As environmental regulations and administrative procedures are different throughout Europe, Eurowaste takes on full responsibility regarding notification documents towards the authorities involved during transboundary shipment.

ADR

We organize the transportation services required to move your waste streams to the treatment center according to the ADR legislation when goods are hazardous. More information regarding ADR is provided below.
The ADR provisions (labeling of hazardous waste products) apply to various raw materials, final products and waste products. The most important provisions are stated below:

  • The ADR regulations impose a number of general provisions such as a ban on smoking during loading and unloading, clearly indicated by a pictogram in the vehicles or earthing of the chassis if flammable materials are involved.
  • Hazardous substances must be identified by the hazard category, the UN identification number and the substance name.
  • The logistics department is responsible for labeling the final products. In the case of waste products, the environmental coordinator has a list of waste products that are covered by the ADR regulations.
  • Used packaging must bear the UN testing identifier issued by the Belgian Packaging Institute.
  • The transport of hazardous substances domestically and transboundary is governed by ADR legislation. As a recognised ADR safety adviser, we follow this closely.
